OUR CORE VALUES
OUR CORE VALUES
Rowing is a sport that requires the highest level of collaboration within a boat, but we take it a step further by pushing each other so that everyone can succeed.
We are a group of athletes who show up and give our 100% at practice everytime so we can achieve our goals on race day.
Within the Clemson family, is the Clemson Crew family of current and former team members.
We are proud to have a diverse group of athletes and keep dues as low as possible to make the sport as accessible as possible.
In the Fall of 1988, our founding members came together to start Clemson Crew. Some had previous rowing experience and others wanted to try something new. They started off with no equipment, so early practices consisted of erging at the Fike Recreation Center and jogging around campus. Later that year, the team began rowing with a set of borrowed oars and a few used boats. The following year the team collected donations for a dock and coach’s launch.
Throughout the 1990’s, the team experienced significant growth in size and operations. The team introduced fundraisers like erg-a-thons and rent-a-rower, and partnered with local businesses such as M.H. Frank and The Esso Club. The team also worked with other student organizations to construct a boathouse.
